What is the Political Courage Test?

Arizona Congressional Election 2022 Political Courage Test

Pro-life Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
I do not support abortion on demand. There are rare circumstances when an abortion is appropriate. These include, 1. When then life of the mother is in jeopardy, 2. In cases of rape or incest.
No In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
No Do you support expanding federal funding to support entitlement programs such as Social Security and Medicare?
The federal government needs to CUT BACK on spending, NOT tax any segment of the population to support their overspending. Social Security and Medicare will be fine for now as long as the federal government does not stick their hand in the till and steal or misappropriate the funds.
Yes Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
People, not corporations and unions, vote. Money buys campaigns and elections. If corporations and unions control the elections with their money, either directly or indirectly, the people lose the power of the vote.
Yes Do you support the protection of government officials, including law enforcement officers, from personal liability in civil lawsuits concerning alleged misconduct?
I support Qualified Immunity which protects a government official from lawsuits alleging that the official violated a plaintiff's rights, only allowing suits where officials violated a clearly established statutory or constitutional right.
Yes Do you support increasing defense spending?
One of the 6 key functions outlined in the Preamble to the Constitution is to "provide for the common defense." To be free from aggression from adversaries, the United States must have the best equipment and best trained people. Appropriate investment in our defense is critical and is not something we can afford to skimp on.
No Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes Do you support lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes Do you support providing financial relief to businesses AND/OR corporations negatively impacted by the state of national emergency for COVID-19?
So-called "stimulous" spending is a socialist tactic and doesn't work. Government needs to get out of the way and let the Free Market system promote economic growth, NOT an elitist Big Government. Businesses, including Corporations, are the economic engine of free enterprise. From civics and American history we learn "The power to tax is the power to destroy." That is why State Governments cannot tax the Federal Government and visa versa. The government essentially "destroys" business productivity when it overtaxes businesses, including corporations. Government relief funds are appropriate to support businesses and corporations in COVID-like emergency situations.
No Do you support requiring states to adopt federal education standards?
Schools are best run under State and local jurisdiction. Federal control of schools is an unconstitutional federal government overreach. The National Educatiton Association (NEA) needs to be abolished.
Yes Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, geo-thermal)?
Unknown Position Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
Government has a proper role in funding research in many areas--space exploration, renewable energy, efficient water useage, etc. The government does NOT have authority to mandate renewable energy use as it is now trying to do. Greenhouse gas emissions is a concern, but I'm reluctant to say yes or no to the federal government being responsible for regulating it. Under the Green New Deal there is the issue that raising beef cattle is a concern for government control. That enters into the realm of ridiculous so I'm not confident that the federal government is adept to monitor this.
No Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
The 2nd Amendment is clear: "...the right to keep and bear arms SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED." Guns are not the problem. The sacred value of life has been diminished in American society. That is higlighted by abortion mentality at any stage of development, even at birth. I wonder if the rampant killing of school children is a consequence of the abortion society's willingnes to kill children at and before birth. The 2nd Amendment was put in place by our Founders to protect us from the very govenment that is trying to "control" and take away our means of defense.
Yes Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
No Do you support requiring businesses to provide paid medical leave during public health crises, such as COVID-19?
Obamacare is an economic disaster and a socialist takeover of the medical industry. Money does not grow on trees! How in the world is a business, especially a small business, able to pay for medical leave when their business is unable to produce during a health crisis like COVID? To even ask this question shows ignorance as to what makes business a business. Business functions when its employees produce a product or service to sell. If there are no employees because they are away on medical leave, how can that business produce, much less pay employees who can't work?
Yes Do you support the construction of a wall along the Mexican border?
Yes Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
I live about an hour from the border. The wall worked by keeping bad actors (drug smuggers and human traffickers) out. We don't want people in our country who don't respect the rule of law. You want to live in our country? You're here illegally? Go home. File legally. Wait your turn IF your turn even comes up. We Americans have no obligation to let everybody into our country. When immigration limits are met or if a person does not qualify to even live here for lack of ability to support themselves or past criminal behavior, they don't belong.
Yes Should the United States use military force to prevent governments hostile to the U.S. from possessing a weapon of mass destruction (for example: nuclear, biological, chemical)?
Yes Do you support reducing military intervention in Middle East conflicts?
We either fight a hostile nation now with conventional weapons and deplomacy or later with nuclear weapons. Which do you prefer? I prefer fighting them now, when the stakes are much lower, than fighting them later when they have nuclear capability. That thinking comes from 28 years of military service as an officer. We should only involve ourselves in international conflict when it is clearly in our National Interest to do so.
Yes Do you generally support removing barriers to international trade (for example: tariffs, quotas, etc.)?
Generally, yes. But in the case of China, who manipulates the value of currency and produces with effectual slave labor to reduce costs, tariffs are appropriate to protect US industry from unfair trade practices.
1. Secure our southern border. See my plan and how to fund on my website at YoungMayberryForUSHouse.com. Destroy the Mexican Cartels like we destroyed the Colombian Cartels. 2. Stop inflation. Restore American oil production as done during Trump's time. Restore the XL pipeline. Restore American drilling and exploration. We have over 100 years of oil in Alaska. We were energy independent just over 2 years ago. What changed? Biden. 3. Eradicate the culture of death and disrepect for life espoused by the abortion industry, the mndset responsible for the school shootings. 4. Maintain our right to keep and bear arms.
